The secretary of state is prepared to approved an initiative by the Maine Christian Civic League to repeal state law protecting gays and lesbians from discrimination in employment, housing, credit and education. The group will soon begin collecting signatures to try to get the measure on the November 2009 ballot. Will you sign the petition? Why is it acceptable to treat gays and lesbians differently than other people? Will repeal of these protections make Maine a less attractive state for businesses and visitors?
Would you sign an anti gay right petition
Absolutly not! This issue has been voted on already, sadly the hate mongers don't like the outcome of the peoples vote. For them - too bad! You lost get over it; maybe even find something worthwhile to promote (like world hunger, maybe?), as a so-called christian group that might better suit you.
Petition to Repeal Rights
Maine Christian Civic League needs to find a way to be truly Christian and Civic and leave the state and all its citizens alone. Why are they going after the Civil Rights Teams which have done so much good in Maine schools to create a safe and respectful learning environment? That has nothing to do with marriage rights which are already illegal in Maine. I won't sign their hateful petition and I hope no one else will either.
